Mashal Baloch has earned a bachelors in media sciences with a silver medal. Her documentary photography and work has appeared in various reputable publications including The Guardian, The Diplomat, SAAG (South-Asian Avant Garde) and The Baluch Hal. Her documentary film idea ‘Arts & Artists of Balochistan’ has been selected for Patakha Pictures, a funding and mentorship program by SOC films and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. She aspires to become a prominent documentary filmmaker and contribute more to the documentary filmmaking industry in Pakistan.

This short documentary explores the lives of children working in the coal mines of Mach, Balochistan. Although their work is exploitative by default, the film attempts to show how they have made peace with the work to make a living. They share their personal stories, their relationship and love with coal and will to survive.
