Dir bio: Aibek Baiymbetov, film director based in Kyrgyzstan, research fellow at the University of Central Asia. He specializes in visual arts, cultural heritage and ethnomusicology. Aibek also the artistic director of the Creative Youth Network of Indigenous and Traditional Communities of Mountainous Regions of Central and Inner Asia.

synopsis: The film “The Road of Hope and Heritage” was produced within the framework of the project GCRF Resilient Silk Route Cultural Heritage Network in collaboration led by University of Central Asia in collaboration with Durham University and Laajverd.The film produced on the silk road in Kyrgyzstan and Northern Pakistan shares the importance of preserving cultural heritage of mountain communities in contemporary times, as they grapple with challenges of large infrastructural development, transit corridors and climate change.
