Halimah Tariq is a Lawyer and an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose production company, 'Stories of the Soil', works to promote activism through film. To date, Halimah has covered several inspirational stories of women who have broken through cultural and stigmatic barriers in order to bring about positive change. She is also the Global Outreach Coordinator for ConnectHer - An Austin based organization which elevates women and girls through film
Halimah has also previously been invited as a speaker and panellist to various International events where she has promoted the issues covered in her documentaries through dialogue and engagement amongst
directors and prominent philanthropists such as Abigal Disney, Ian Somerhalder, Nikkie Reed and Khalida Brohi.
Her documentaries have been selected and won awards at various global platforms, such as the Girls Impact the World Film Festival at Harvard University, San Fransico Green Film Festival. Her most recent Film ‘Awaz - A life in Silence’ has won at the Los Angeles Film Awards 2022, the Prague International Indie Film Festival 2022 and the Toronto Women international Film Festival. The documentary has also been officially selected at the Atlanta Women’s Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival and the Vancouver South Asian Women Film Festival.
Halimah is currently holding workshops and working to promote young filmmakers in Pakistan, so that they may also be recognised on a global level
