Payal Kapadia is an Indian filmmaker who lives and works in Mumbai. She studied Film Direction at the Film & Television Institute of India.
Her work deals with that which is not easily visible, hidden somewhere in the folds of memory and dreams. She won the Golden Eye award for best documentary film at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival for her film A Night of Knowing Nothing. Her most recent film, a fiction feature, All We Imagine as Light was screened in competition in Cannes 2024.
