Born in Kolkata, India, in 1993, an English literature student, Rahul Roye (he/them) has worked as an independent filmmaker and screenwriter since 2018. They, a Queer Feminist, advocate strongly against any agency of social suppression or segregation adhering to hierarchy fashion, especially concerning gender politics and norms.

Their directorial debut, a short film named Man & Wife (2021) has been a festival favourite, being screened and winning awards at more than 158 international film festivals including Oscar Qualifying Out on Film Atlanta, Outfest, Fringe Queer London, KASHISH MIQFF, GAZE LGBTQ Dublin, New York IFF, UKAFF, Image Out Rochester, Queerwave Cyprus, Oaxaca, San Francisco QFF, DFWSAFF, Kashish MIQFF, etc. Their second directorial short film A Lullaby for Yellow Roses, acquired by CANAL+ France, is also having a successful festival journey by making notable stops at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying Flickerfest, Brussels Short Film Festival, London International Short Film Festival, Minikino Filmweek, IDSFFK, Kaohsiung Film Festival, New York Indian Film Festival, Dharamshala International Film Festival, etc. Their upcoming short Aman, still in development, has received the QDrishti grant and many more awards.
